Your last two posts have really reminded me of how many things I take for granted in the city. Until I read this post, I never realized that the abandoned falling apart house that I passed every day on the subway was the same one you had posted about not even two weeks before I moved to Astoria. And until your last post, it barely phased me that there were townhouses on 6th Avenue, right across the street from my office. Thank you for making me take another look at the things around me.

Oy! Did anyone mention the horrible grammar in that “article”? Razed…not raised. It is a shame about the building, but sometimes they do have to come down.
One of the pics in the old post showed what looked like holes in the roof, and that’s a real death knell to these old houses. Water -> Rot -> Unsalvageable.
I wonder why kids today can’t write or spell? It’s because they read all these mistakes in their local paper. The correct word is RAZED, not RAISED. What kind of newspaper is this? And it should read IT not I in the last sentence. And the damned house was not on 30th Avenue! It was closer to 36th Avenue!!!
Probably going to be a parking lot for the Enterprise that was behind it.
I can tell you what’s going up there in its place… an Arby’s or one of those shit box light brick rectangles with garish shiny balconies you see everywhere these days.
