LA has an insane variety of natural filming locations, from beaches to mountains to deserts, but it’s missing one major category: the woods. There are very few places in the general LA area that believably pass for a forest…so Disney grew one in a place it shouldn’t exist.

Known as Pine Lake, it’s located at Disney’s Golden Oak Ranch in Santa Clarita, a vast parcel of land that dates to the Rancho San Francisco land grant. It was acquired by Disney in the 1950s and made its first notable appearance in titles like Zorro and Old Yeller.

If you’ve seen a forest in a TV show or movie shot in LA, there’s a very good chance it was shot in this small slice of woodland, which is rentable to all productions (Disney or otherwise) and also offers an idyllic lake, a wood cabin, and a small waterfall.
