Euphoria S3 E2 locations! 530 days after I took scout photos of a vacant strip mall on the side of a lonely highway, here it is in all its glory as Alamo’s Silver Slipper club. NEVER could’ve imagined it’d turn out looking this great, thx to some insane production design…

Sometimes, you scout real strip clubs to play themselves; other times, you want a vacancy to dress as a club, allowing a greater level of both creative and logistical control since you’re not closing down an active club (also much cheaper!).
The best cheats for strip clubs are often nondescript places like VFW halls, community centers, rec buildings, and the like, which tend to be large, nondescript buildings without front-facing windows.
Of course, part of scouting strip club cheats means you get to have this awkward conversation over and over again:
Me: I love your building, and think it’d make a great exterior for our movie/tv show.
Owner: That’s great! What for?
Me: The outside of a strip club!
Owner: Oh.
You always want to provide a director with as many options as possible, which means I now have a handy folder in my locations archive for all future desert-feeling street club exterior needs (Euphoria left me with a lot of, er, very Euphoria-specific folders!).
But it just goes to show how location scouting is just the first step in a very, very long process. A location is often just a blank canvas; it’s only after the entire creative team puts their imprint on it that it becomes the final screen-ready location.
