I’m out scouting in a remote part of the desert, and did I just stumble upon someone’s abandoned beehive home?

I was driving across a vast swath of scrub and Joshua trees on an unmaintained, pothole-strewn dirt road when I noticed something stubby sticking out over the horizon.

It’s always fascinating to me how man-made objects have a way of standing out as unnatural and alien, no matter how overgrown the surrounding terrain.

At first, I assumed it was just a strange looking rock, but the more I stared, the more I realize it was definitely some sort of structure in the middle of nowhere. So of course I had to take a look.

It seems like someone created the structure out of sandbags?

It doesn’t seem to be just some sort of storage shed, there are cute little round windows all over it that give it the feeling of a dwelling. Definite signs of habitation within, and the surrounding spent shotgun shells makes me glad no one is home at the moment.

Someone knows the answer, but as always, the desert withholds any easy answers.
