Earlier this year, I did some industrial cattle farm scouting, and was surprised to find I could barely get anyone to answer the phone, let alone agree to consider filming. Even after showing my credentials, the response was absolute silence, and it was clear something was up.
Turns out? Everyone thought I was an animal rights activist trying to sneak onto the property to steal videos of the farm conditions, something they apparently run into on a daily basis. Definitely one of the odder aspects of being a location scout: trying to convince people you’re not actually up to no good…
