Fbf to the unexpectedly perilous water tower at my old building in Brooklyn at 132 N 5th. If you ever attended a roof party there circa the late-2000s, it was basically a rite of passage to at some point attempt a drunken climb up the 30′ ladder. Only there was a surprise waiting at the top…

The water tower had long been out of use and a family of birds had made a big nest inside. So people would reach the top and cheer victoriously – only to be suddenly swarmed by a huge flock of terrified birds fleeing for safety. We’d try to warn people, but few took heed…

Miraculously, there were no (major?) injuries to my recollection. Google Earth makes it seem like only the frame is left now – if so, RIP and thanks for the memories!
